People Get Ready - “Disappear”

NY-based quartet People Get Ready has announced the release of Rusty Greg Jherek Luke remix EP, out on March 6th with Quite Scientific Records. The original songs are from the band’s self-titled debut EP, whichDavid Byrne highlighted as one of the best releases of 2011 in his playlist on Studio 360 with Kurt Andersen. Remixers on the forthcoming EP include band member Luke Fasano, Deerhoof’s Greg Saunier,Jherek Bischoff from Parenthetical Girls, and Rusty Santos, who’s done production work for Animal Collective, TV on the Radio and Ariel Pink.

The Minor Leagues - “Ghost Maps”

Off new album ‘North College Hill’ the latest in a string of releases from the Cincinnati seven-piece to pair stinging melancholy with insidiously catchy melodies. The Minor Leagues’ last two records covered the end of a relationship and the end of the world in overblown concept-album fashion, and this new album continues the streak with ten songs of bittersweet rust-pop about North College Hill, lead singer Ben Walpole’s crumbling Midwestern hometown. The band paints a baroque portrait of the neighborhood-as-history, detailing childhood memories in a faded palette of strings, bells, and guitar jangle. Download “Ghost Maps” free via Bandcamp.

Francis - “Traktor”

Swedish indie pop act Francis are, after an eventful year of touring with The Tallest Man On Earth and releasing their warmly received debut album Lekomberg, We Were Kin, already back with new sounds. The first single Traktor is taken from the forthcoming EP, This Must Be Blood (out February 27). Francis has its origins in the stomping folk and blues, now morphed into a more rhythmic and experimental pop sound.
