Passion Pit - “Take A Walk”
[Dissecting The Track]
“Take A Walk” is the first single off Passion Pit’s much expected Sophomore album Gossamer, available July 24th.
Being one of the early fans of Passion Pit, I’ve experienced their evolution from Chunk of Change to Manners and all the remixes in between. Including their individual side projects (Aislyn // Shuttle). I’m not sure what to make of this track. It’s catchy, but the lyrics and hook left me questioning where the optimistic fun Passion Pit went.
What do you think of the new single? Do you think they’ve matured or slowly shifting into mainstream?

Brooklyn-based quintet Fort Lean has debuted their new single, “Sunsick,” a hook-laden, synth-driven track carried by fuzzed-out, echoed guitar lines, ferocious, stampeding percussion, and frontman Keenan Mitchell’s confident, siren-like wail. Produced by Ayad Al Adhamy of Passion Pit, “Sunsick” will be co-released as a 7” by Neon Gold Records / Black Bell Records on February 28th. A presale is now available at NeonGoldRecords.com.

Ghost Beach - “Empty Streets”
[mp3]
First single from New York pop duo Ghost Beach. “While their debut single “Empty Streets” isn’t the most lyrically optimistic, there’s a certain magnetism that appeals to our soft inner core that ultimately manifests itself in an overwhelming pop radiance. It’s more cathartic than depressing, maybe because it sounds like a post-punk Passion Pit, all skyscraping synth lines with the jilted lover’s vocals expertly oscillating between solid ground and high-flying falsetto breaks with athletic ease. It’s the kind of thing that leaves you feeling like a modern Peter Pan, with both your shadow and your youth intact”. (says: neon gold records)
